Zont™ Chapter 4: Heroes aren't made, they're Born.

Tim woke up in his own bed. He thought to himself that this is once again a dream.

Tim: Damn. Another dream?

It's nice out, sunny, and a bit breezy. Tim decides to go outside for a walk.

Tim: I sure am tired of all these dreams, maybe I should go visit a psychiatrist.

As Tim is walking down his block, he sees a super fast moving object, or person.

Tim: Who-

Before Tim could finish he gets knocked out cold.


Tim wakes up. He's in a huge lair. It looks as if the biggest dome he's ever seen.

Tim: Damn! Son, I gotta call my mom! 

Tim takes out his phone for the first time. Tim dials 4 digits and someone interrupts him.

Voice: Hey, you.

Tim: Am I in trouble? 


Voice: No, we'd like to welcome you to our home.

Tim: Wait, huh?

Voice: Oh right. I'm Flash.

Tim: Ah, so your the one that brought me here?

Flash: It was an order, don't take it personally.

Tim: So who runs this place?

Flash: Well, we could never have decided, so we have two leaders. Batman and Superman.

Tim: Where are they?

Flash: Everyone's out. They'll be back before you know it though.

Tim: So this is where you all live huh? Nice place.

Flash: Thanks. You know where we're located?

Tim: No.

Flash: Middle of Pacific Ocean. I ran on the water with you in my arms to get here.


Tim: Wow. That's amazing!

Flash: Wait till we have a meeting. You'll get to meet everyone.

Tim: Meeting?

Flash: Yeah, those only happen rarely. Whenever we have a new recruit, we hold a meeting to discuss our future and about you.

Tim: I see. So it wasn't a dream huh?

Flash: Huh?

Tim: Nothing. So, who built this place anyway?

Flash: We all did. It took a while, but we completed it.

Tim: How big is it?

Flash: One mile in width and one mile in height. It floats on the water and flies at super speed.

Tim: That's awesome! Am I going to be like you?

Flash: What do you mean?

Tim: Well, am I going to have superpowers as cool as yours?

Flash: Ha, maybe even more cool than mine. But don't sweat it kid, we'll be discussing that with you today and today is also going to be the day that you become a hero.

Tim: What do you mean by hero?

Flash: We're going to unlock your powers today. We will test if you are worth recruiting on our side. So you will have to do something that makes you a hero.

Tim: Aw, that seems a bit hard.

Flash: No one said it's going to be easy. This superhero stuff doesn't come free you know.

Tim: You're right.

As they were talking, all the members of the Justice League entered the huge room.

Tim: Wow! So that's all you guys?

Flash: I think so. There might be some missing, but since there's a meeting that's very unlikely.

Superman: Hello, Tim.

Tim: Hello.

The Justice League members began to surround Tim asking him all kind of questions about himself and other things.

Batman: Not to be a party pooper anything but can we get this started?

Superman: Batman's right. Fetch the table.

Flash and two other superheroes ran into the next room and brought back in a huge table, that can sit around twenty.

Batman: So everyone, let's take a seat.

The superheroes sat down at the table. Tim was still standing.

Superman: Tim, come sit. We will introduce you to everyone and tell you the basis of what we do and what our chain of command is.

Tim: Ok.

Tim sat down. They all began discussing quietly with each other. After about 5 minutes of discussion, they began the meeting.

Superman: So, as it seems the threat posed against earth, our greatest enemy keeps getting larger and stronger by the day. We are here to protect earth and it's inhabitants. Tim, if you have any questions so far, let us know.

They all looked at Tim.

Tim: Um, I don't think so. Oh yeah! I wanted to ask you, this isn't a dream is it?

Superman: It's reality Tim.

Tim: Good, I like that this is all real.

Batman: We will introduce to you the bad guys now. Feel free to ask any questions about them.

A big 3D diagram appeared in the middle of a table for everyone to see.

Tim: That's so cool!

Batman: I created it, with the help of some friends.

The diagram displays characters of some kind.

Tim: Wow.

Superman: We have many enemies. We will begin with the most dangerous and strongest threats.

Batman: One of the most brilliant masterminds of the enemies, are Lex Luthor and the Joker. They are just two of about four leaders. You see, we have two leaders, Superman and I. That is because of Superman's great power, and my knowledge.

Superman: There is also the Riddler, Catwoman, Adolf Hitler, Scorpion, and many more that we do not wish to name. If you are to ever encounter any of the people I have named, you are in grave danger and your only option is to escape.

Tim: Oh okay.

Spiderman: Look at it this way, Tim. I'm Daniel Abramov, I'm one of the only superheroes with an identity. Batman has a secret identity, and Flash is Julian. The rest of us weren't really human to begin with.

Tim: Ah. So when do I get my powers?

The Hulk: Kid, whatever power you have, your fighting me as practice!

Tim: Your joking!

Flash: Don't worry though, it's just to test your ability. When I first joined, I had to test my ability on Superman. It was fun.

Tim: Yeah but look at the Hulk!F

Batman: Alright. Let's go over to the training field.

They all leave the room and take a 10 minute walk throughout their home to get to the training field.

Tim: So how long till we get there?

They arrive.

Tim: Wow. It's huge!

Superman: Stand over there Tim.

Tim walks to the place Superman told him to stand.

Batman: Flash, you can begin.

Flash: Roger!

Flash began running many circles around Tim at a speed that cannot be seen by the human eye. All you saw was a hurricane surrounding Tim. Flash stopped.

Superman: Ok. Let's hope it worked.

Tim: Let's hope what worked?

Tim is on the floor, barely breathing. Inhaling and exhaling as best as he could.

Superman: We didn't want to tell you this but, there was a 30% chance you'd not survive that. If your powers weren't going to unlock that is. But because you are still alive means you have it. Now you shall test it out on Hulk.

Hulk walks over to the front of Tim.

Tim: Ok, so what do I do?

Batman: You survive.

The Hulk raises his huge arm and pounds at the ground.

The Hulk: Hulk smash!

Tim is no where to be found.

Batman: So, that's his power.

Tim is floating in the air.

Tim: I cannot believe what just happened.   

The Hulk: Good job kid, now get down here so I can smash you!

An alarm has risen in their house.

Female Voice: Intruder alert, intruder alert.

Batman: An intruder?

Flash: I'll go check!

Superman: Teen Titans, Sub-Zero, Captain Marvel, and Thor, go check out who the intruder is.

The Teen Titans, including Raven, Cyborg, Robin, Beast Boy, and Starfire, Sub-Zero, Thor and Captain Marvel, all run inside the huge dome to find the intruder.

Tim: What's going to happen?

Batman: Someone wants to kill you.


Tim: Me? Why me?

Superman: No one has broken into our house for about ten years ago when we had that last recruit who got killed.

Batman: Our threat doesn't want us getting new members.

Tim: So they are coming here to kill me? That's stupid!

Superman: It actually makes sense. We tried doing the same thing when they recruited a new member.

Tim: Did you succeed?

Superman: Yes. We have succeeded, but that doesn't mean we wanted too.

Tim: What do you mean?

Batman: We don't like killing, unless it's our necessarily our last decision.

Tim: You said I have to become a hero in order to join you guys correct?

Superman: Yes.

Spiderman: Don't do anything stupid.

Tim smiled. Tim flew towards the entrance to the dome from the training field. He wanted to help the Justice League, and most of all he wanted to be apart of them.


When Tim reached the scene, he realized that everyone but Thor was down on the floor, helpless.

Tim: What the hell happened here?

Thor turned around towards Tim.

Thor: Get out of here while you still can, kid.

Tim: I want to help.

Thor: You can't help us. Just go.

Before Tim could decide on what to do, the enemy leaped out of nowhere and stuck a sword inside Thor's chest who jumped in front of Tim to protect him.

Tim: What? Why?

Thor: Run.

Thor collapses on the floor, because of his immense power he is still conscious.

Tim: What are you?

About ten enemies come out from the shadows of the room. They all surround Tim.

Voice: So this is the new recruit? He looks a bit lost and confused.

Voice #2: Now don't get carried away. You know what we're here to do. Now let's do it.

Voice: Let me just kill him. We defeated the others. Might as well kill him while at it.

Voice #2: We didn't defeat the others, it's because we sneaked up on them. If they knew what we were capable of and if we haven't sneaked we'd all be dead right now.

Voice: Shut up. You always underestimate all of us.

Voice #2: You fool!

Robin who was behind the first voice, slashed his head off.

Voice #2: Damn!

Tim who saw an opening rushed at the second one.

Tim: Take this!

All of a sudden, a huge fire ball of energy is shot at the second enemy and he got disintegrated.

Thor: Good job Tim. That was unexpected.

Thor was standing behind the other enemies as they collapse. Two enemies are left.

Voice #3: Alright. We surrender!

Sub-Zero who was put on anesthetics by the enemy froze his enemy and there was just one left.

Voice #3: Please wait! Don't kill me! I'll tell you everything!

Thor: Who sent you here? What is your objective?

Voice #3: We are supposed to collect an important piece of information from you about your plans. Unfortunately, we failed miserably.

Thor: You did fail. So who sent you?

Voice #3: He'll kill me if I tell you.

Tim: I'll kill you if you don't tell us!

Thor: Spit it out!

The Flash who was knocked out by anesthetics as well woke up.

Flash: What'd I miss?

Tim: Nothing important. We got them.

Voice #3:  It was the Joker.

Thor: Joker? He didn't make a move in years. I thought he planned to stay out of everything.

The rest of the Justice League caught up.

Superman: What happened here?

They quickly debriefed them of the situation.

The Hulk: What are we gonna do with him?  

Batman: We can't kill him.

Spiderman: I say we put him in our jail. That way he can be used in the future as a hostage.

Thor: If Joker sent him here, that means he intended him to relay us a message and then get killed. He doesn't know us that well, he knows we wouldn't kill him. So what exactly are his intentions?

Superman: We won't know for sure. But, let's go on Spiderman's conclusion. He may come to good use one day.

Thor: I highly doubt it.

Batman: Ok, put him to jail.

Martian Manhunter grabbed the villain and walked through walls and left him in a metal room of no holes and no escape.

Flash: Good work Tim.

Tim: Thanks, it wasn't that hard or anything.

Thor: Your lucky our enemies were weak.

Thor left and so did some others.

Tim: What's his problem?

Batman: Don't worry about it, he's one of our strongest members.

Superman: Good work Tim. However, next time you are to follow any orders given to you by Batman, or me.

Tim: So does that mean?

Batman: Welcome to the the group, hero!

Tim was more happy than he ever was in his life.

Tim: Yes! Wait till I tell my parents about this!

Tim flew out of the Justice League base and straight on home.

Superman: Well, he's a good-hearted fellow at least.

Batman: Yeah.


Scene changes to an alleyway in Manhatten, New York.

The Joker: You are pathetic.

The Joker kills someone with a card and on the card is a drawing of the Joker.

The Joker: I hate people that fail me!

Mysterious Voice: I won't fail you.

The Joker: You better not.

Mysterious Voice: I shall go now.

The man disappeared into thin air.

The Joker: Follow him.

Behind Joker stood three of his minions who followed the man.

The Joker: This so called new hero of the Justice League is going down, by his hand or mine.

As the Joker envokes a loud laugh, he tosses his joker card into the wind and as you see the view fading the card is the last thing you see.
